About Athina Karatzogianni

I am Associate Professor in Media and Communication at the University of Leicester. I have authored Firebrand Waves of Digital Activism (2015); The Politics of Cyberconflict (2006), Power, Conflict and Resistance: Social Movements, Networks and Hierarchies with Andrew Robinson (2010), and I am the editor of Cyber Conflict and Global Politics (2009), Violence and War in Culture and the Media (2012), and Digital Cultures and the Politics of Emotion, co-edited with Adi Kuntsman (2012). I am contributing to work theorising cyberconflict, and exploring the potential of ICTs and network forms of organization for social movements, resistance and open knowledge production. I am currently working on three projects: the ideology, political economy and and organization of the anti-surveillance movement; governance and ideological issues of the sharing economy; and smart city conflict, activism and security.
[Here on bepress, I share work in pre-publication form for dissemination and feedback purposes and I state where the work was published, should the reader wish to read and reference it in its published form.]
