About Regina Fisher Raboin

Regina Fisher Raboin, MSLIS is the Associate Director at the Lamar Soutter Library (LSL), UMass Chan Medical School. As associate director she oversees the education, clinical, research, scholarly publishing (copyright, open access, and the institutional repository), outreach services, library operations, and technology initiatives at the library. Regina sits on the UMass Medical School’s Humanities in Medicine committee, and is one of the co-leaders, along with David Hatem, M.D. and Hugh Silk, M.D., of the Humanities Lab, an integration of the arts and humanities into medical education and healthcare through student, faculty, and staff collaborations fostering humanism in medicine. After arriving at LSL, Regina helped lead the creation of the 2016-2021 strategic plan and development of the Individual Purposeful Pathway (IPP), a tool for library staff to reflect on their personal professional development goals and link these to the library's strategic initiatives. She also collaborated with UMMS' Information Technology Research Computing Group to launch LabArchives, a cloud-based laboratory notebook. Recently, Regina was appointed Assistant Professor in UMass Chan Medical School's department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences.

Regina is the Editor-in-chief for the Journal of eScience Librarianship (JESLIB). She has presented on STEM resources and information literacy at RDAP Summit (Research Data Access & Preservation), Computers in Libraries, ACRL STS National, ALA, ACRL New England NELIG and Special Libraries Association (SLA); she has also presented on the history and publication of JeSLIB at the Library Publishing Forum (LPF).

She sits on both UMMS' and Tufts University's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) where she is a protocol reviewer and voting member. Regina is active in the Medical Library Association's (MLA) Leadership and Management Caucus, the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries (AAHSL) Second-in-Command (SIC) group, the Boston Library Consortium's (BLC) Associate University Librarians (AUL), and the Library Publishing Coalition (LPC). Regina is the Lamar Soutter Library's representative on the Massachusetts Commonwealth Consortium of Libraries in Public Higher Education Institutions, Inc. (MCCLPHEI).

In 2016-2017, Regina, along with the BLC Executive Director, Scott Britton (Boston College), and DeEtta Jones, developed and launched the inaugural BLC Leads Program, a 6-month multi-faceted program to prepare library professionals who demonstrate leadership potential to take on increasingly demanding rolls in BLC libraries.

Prior to joining UMMS, Regina was the Data Management Services Group Coordinator and Science Research & Instruction Librarian at Tisch Library, Tufts University, where she led a team of Tufts librarians who assisted Tufts faculty with data management plans and best practices in research data management. While in this role, she collaborated with Tufts Research Technology Services and science faculty in launching LabArchives.

Regina was also a collaborator with the Lamar Soutter Library in the building of the New England Collaborative Data Management Curriculum (NECDMC) and was a guest lecturer for the Simmons University's GSLIS Research Data Management course.
