About Katherine Lewis

Katherine Lewis, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Education at Dominican University of California.She serves as the Multiple Subject Program Director and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Education Studies, credential programs, and the Master of Science program. Prior to earning a Ph.D. in School Improvement from Texas State University, Katherine was an elementary school teacher in diverse settings (including rural, Title I, International Baccalaureate, and full inclusion/SWIFT schools) for nine years in Texas, Colorado, and Southern California.

Katherine's research centers on the social, political, and historical aspects of schooling and some of her work is published in the Journal of Educational Administration and History, the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, and in the Equity and Higher Education: Theory, Policy, & Praxis book series. Katherine is interested in exploring issues of equity and access, full inclusion, and school culture and climate. Her most recent, award-winning project is focused on amplifying gender diverse voices in K-12 schools and aims to improve gender-inclusive professional development initiatives for educators. She is currently contributing to a book project about student voice research in New Zealand and the United States.
