About Kaitlin M. Bratlie

Professor Bratlie’s research thrusts include the development biomaterials for medical applications and evaluation of these materials in in vitro and in vivo contexts. The interdisciplinary nature of her work spans organic chemistry, optics, biology, tissue engineering, and materials science. In addition to her responsibilities as an assistant professor of Materials Science & Engineering and Chemical & Biological Engineering at Iowa State University, she is an associate of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Ames Laboratory and is an active affiliate of the Office of Biotechnology. She is currently a mentor to seven undergraduates and five graduate students.
