About Joan Petit
Associate Professor Joan Petit is the Communications and Outreach Librarian at Portland State University Library in Portland, Oregon. She holds an MSLS from the University of North Carolina School of Information and Library Science, an MA in English from Western Carolina University, and a BA in English and Women's Studies from the University of North Carolina.
During the 2016-2017 academic year, while on sabbatical from Portland State, Joan will be a Fulbright Scholar at Jimma University in Ethiopia. Based in the Information Science department, she will teach classes and conduct a research project investigating the feasibility of the adaption of Open Educational Resources (OER) at Jimma.
Her other research interests include student use of library technology and library space, marketing and communications in libraries, and library services to historically underrepresented and underserved groups.
