Dr. Schmalzel was the founding chair of the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and was active in the development of the Engineering Clinic program. He has been particularly involved in Junior and Senior Engineering Clinic, which teaches engineering students about multidisciplinary work and entrepreneurship.
