About Betty Rozum

In July 2015, I assumed the newly created position of Data Librarian. In this new role, I coordinate the efforts of the Library, USU Office and Research and Graduate Studies and USU Information Technology Office as work together in ensuring mandates are met for federally funded research. I also work with the Undergraduate Research Program in efforts to further undergraduate research and to serve as a liaison between the UG Research Office and the Library.
Previously, for fourteen years, I was the Associate Dean of Technical Services where I oversaw the four departments of the library’s Technical Services Division: Cataloging, Collection Development, Resource Sharing & Document Delivery, and Materials Acquisitions. Until 2014, when the library reorganized to include a Technology Division, my division also included the Digital Initiatives Department, which I was instrumental in launching here.
I have been integrally involved in the transition from print to electronic journals and books, managing the challenges of journal inflation, and the exciting developments of digital library and institutional repositories at our institution. I oversaw the merging of the library functions of the College of Eastern Utah’s libraries with Utah State University’s Merill-Cazier’s Library.
I enjoy serving as the subject librarian for the Physics Department. I actively promote the research of the faculty and students through our Digital Commons site, and am exploring new ways of exposing their work.
