About Anita S. Coleman

Dr. Anita Coleman received her Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1996). Her experience in Cataloging, Classification, and Library Systems comes from being an academic (technical services) librarian in a private high school, community college, and a private university. She has also been a full-time University faculty and post-doc researcher in the areas of Knowledge Organization Systems and Information Seeking Behaviors.  

Anita's research can be found in Journal of the American Society for Information Science (2005; 2007a; 2007b), Joint Conference on Digital Libraries by ACM & IEEE (2001, 2002; 2005, 2006a; 2006b), Lecture Notes in Computer Science (2002); Knowledge Organization (2004), Journal of the American Society for Information Science (1996; 1997a; 1997b), Journal of Documentation (2006), Cataloging and Classification Quarterly (2002; 2005), Library Resources & Technical Services (2003), and Journal of Education for Library and Information Science (1996).

In 2005, Anita was recognized by the Library of Congress for outstanding leadership as the PI of the Cataloger's Learning Workshop (web clearinghouse prototype). She was honored as a 2007 Mover and Shaker (Library Journal) for pioneering work with open access repositories. Currently, Anita is enjoying playing in the creative fields of independent writing and publishing.
