About Wesley F. Buchele

Dr. Wesley Buchele earned his B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University, his M.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Arkansas and his Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering and Soil Physics from Iowa State College (later, University.)
Dr. Buchele served his country in the U. S. Army Artillery and Infantry where he was stationed in the Pacific. After his service, Dr. Buchele acted as a junior engineer at the John Deere Waterloo Works. From there he returned to academia and became an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas. He was a Graduate Assistant at Iowa State College where he went on to become an Assistant and then Full Professor at Iowa State College. There he originated many courses including those on Agricultural Safety, the first of their kind taught in the United States. He was also an Associate Professor at Michigan State University. Dr. Buchele retired from Iowa State University on June 30, 1989. In addition to his national educational experience, he also taught in the capacity of Visiting Professor at the University of Ghana.
