Dr. Wendy L. Rouse is Assistant Professor and Social Science Teacher Preparation Advisor in the Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at San José State University. Her research interests include childhood, family, and gender history during the Progressive Era. She is the author of Her Own Hero: The Origins of the Women’s Self-Defense Movement (NYU Press, 2017).
