About Steven R Rogg

Dr. Steven Rogg’s professional contributions integrate science teacher professional education, systemic reform of STEM education, curriculum and program development, lesson study, student research, and mixed-methods program evaluation. Dr. Rogg has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in science education methods and curriculum/program evaluation. He has conducted research on classroom- and informal learning environments, systemic reform, educational equity, curriculum alignment with national standards, and students’ experiences of STEM education. Dr. Rogg has served on the faculty of the University of Maine, Miami University, DePaul University, and Aurora University. During his appointment to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy–recognized among the nation’s top STEM high schools–he worked to advance its legislated charge “as a catalyst and laboratory for the advancement of teaching.” Dr. Rogg is also a partner of the Lesson Study Alliance, a newly established non-profit 501(c)(3) service organization dedicated to the collaborative improvement of teaching and learning informed by best practices around the world. He has presented at more than 100 professional conferences, seminars and workshops. Dr. Steven Rogg earned the Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction-Biology Education from Purdue University (1990); the Master of Science degree in math-science education, teaching certification for science and mathematics, and the Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering-biomedical option.
