About Rui Kang
Dr. Kang is Professor of Secondary Education (6-12) of Georgia College & State University (GCSU). She holds two Ph.D. degrees, in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University (TAMU, 2007) and in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia (UGA, 2022). Her scholarship focuses on mathematics teaching and learning, STEM education, and teacher preparation and professional development. Her 20+ publications appear in journals such as Mathematics Teacher, International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education, Teacher Education & Practice, International Journal of Education & the Arts, The Journal of Social Studies Research, and School Science and Mathematics. She served as a member of GCSU's Institutional Review Board (IRB) for nine years (2007-2015). Since 2015, She has also served as the Associate Director of GCSU's Center for Economic Education. .Dr. Kang was the Program Chair of the Special Interest Group (SIG) Democratic Citizenship in Education of the American Education Research Association (AERA, 2016-2018). She has taught high school mathematics and holds a clear renewable teaching certificate in mathematics (T7, Grades 6-12) in the state of Georgia. Recently she received two certificates, in Interdisciplinary Qualitative Studies (2018) and in Education Law and Policy (2019), both from UGA. She is currently serving as a Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of a National Science Foundation (NSF) S-STEM grant.
