About Nancy J. Stone

Dr. Nancy J. Stone received a Ph.D. in experimental psychology with an emphasis in industrial and organizational psychology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She also holds a master of arts degree from Texas Tech University and a bachelor of arts degree in experimental psychology from the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Stone has been selected as faculty fellow for the office of the vice chancellor of research and dean of graduate studies. She will work on projects to elevate S&T’s research, scholarship and graduate studies. The appointment will end July 31, 2019. Dr. Stone joined S&T’s faculty in 2008 and currently serves as co-director of the Center for Smart Living. Her research interests include teamwork, environmental design, student learning and training, and the interview process. She co-authored the textbook Introduction to Human Factors: Applying Psychology to Design, published in 2017.

Stone taught in the psychology department at Creighton University from 1989 to 2008, named professor in 2006. From 1988-89, Stone served as assistant professor of psychology and mental health at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She served as chair of the department of psychological science at Missouri University of Science and Technology from 2008 to 2015.

During her professional career, Stone has received multiple research fellowships with the NASA Ames Research Center and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Her work has been published in numerous professional journals and presented at professional conferences.
