About Melanie Mills

Melanie Mills cut her teeth as an academic librarian at Western Libraries, where she worked in various roles supporting the university's core mandates of teaching and learning, and research and scholarship for more than a decade. She has sought out and secured both formal and informal leadership opportunities throughout her career, holding library leadership appointments in a variety of university and administrative environments. In 2016 she joined Huron University College (a deliberately small liberal arts university and Western’s founding college) as Director, Library & Learning Services. Melanie's research interests include: leadership development and career readiness for academic librarians and library administrators; the contributions of the academic librarian in undergraduate and graduate education; and the evolving role of the academic library in the 21st century university.
