About Margaret T. Kinzel

Dr. Margaret Kinzel joined the faculty of the Department of Mathematics at Boise State University in 2000 after earning her Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction, Mathematics Education at The Pennsylvania State University. While at Penn State she worked as a Research Assistant for the Mathematics Teacher Development Project. She also has a B.S. and M.Ed., both in Secondary Mathematics Education from Auburn University. Dr. Kinzel's dissertation title was "Characterizing Ways of Thinking Underlying College Students' Interpretation and Use of Algebraic Notation", and she continues to study the use and understanding of algebraic notation and mathematical symbols.
