About Joan L. Van Hise

Dr. Joan Van Hise is Associate Professor of Accounting at the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut where she teaches financial and managerial accounting, business ethics and accounting ethics. She received a PhD in Accounting from New York University and is licensed as a CPA in New York. She also earned an M.B.A. in Finance as well as a B.S. in Accounting, both from Fordham University. Dr. Van Hise has published numerous articles in the areas of accounting education and accounting ethics. Dr. Van Hise was named Alpha Sigma Nu Teacher of the Year 2008 at Fairfield University and was the recipient (with Dr. Dawn Massey) of the 2001 American Accounting Association Innovation in Accounting Education Award. In 2008, she and colleagues Dr. Michael Coyne and Dr. Dawn Masey were recipients of a grant from PricewaterhouseCoopers to fund incorporation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) into the Fairfield University accounting curriculum. Dr. Van Hise is the President of Colleagues in Jesuit Business Education and a member of the American Accounting Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
