About Jessica Roberts

Dr. Jessica Roberts is an Assistant Professor of Journalism and Media Studies in Boise State University’s Department of Communication. She received a Ph.D. in Journalism Studies from the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism, a M.A. in Print Journalism from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School, and a B.A. in English and Spanish from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Roberts’ most recent appointments include teaching a Semester at Sea for the Institute for Shipboard Education, University of Virginia focusing on social media, journalism, and globalization, and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China where she focused on global journalism and investigative journalism. Her professional experience includes working as a coordinator of the Salzburg Cutler Fellows Program for the Salzburg Global Seminar in Washington D.C., being a writer and copy editor for the “Santiago Times” in Santiago Chile, and a reporting fellow for News21 Carnegie-Knight Initiative in Los Angeles.
