About James L. Soldner, Ph.D., CRC

Dr. James L. Soldner joined the UMass Boston faculty in 2012, and is a tenured associate professor and graduate program director of Rehabilitation Counseling Program in the School for Global Inclusion and Social Development (SGISD). He conducts scholarly research, teaches graduate coursework, and is involved in various service activities within SGISD, UMASS Boston and beyond. Dr. Soldner teaches in the Rehabilitation Counseling (MS) and Global Inclusion and Social Development (MA and PhD) graduate programs within SGISD. He is also currently a principal investigator of a rehabilitation long-term training grant (Rehabilitation Services Administration, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, U.S. Department of Education, funded 2015–2020, $917,661).

Dr. Soldner has published scholarly research on a range of topics generally related to rehabilitation and behavior analysis. He has facilitated 85+ presentations at academic conferences and training seminars at the local, state, national, and international levels. His current research and teaching interests include the applications of behavior analysis to rehabilitation, evidence-based practice in rehabilitation, contemporary issues in rehabilitation administration and leadership, brain injury rehabilitation, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Before joining SGISD, Dr. Soldner held faculty appointments at Utah State University and Assumption University. He has an extensive clinical background providing services to individuals with disabilities in a wide variety of rehabilitation and educational settings. He is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
