About Erich C. Maul DO MPH

Dr. Erich Maul received his Bachelor of Science in Biology Magna Cum Laude from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1994, his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999 and Master of Public Health from the University of Kentucky in 2014.
Dr. Maul received residency training in Pediatrics at Kessler Air Force Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi from 1999-2002 and was selected as Chief of Residents from 2002-2003. In an eleven year career with the Air Force, he was stationed as far north as Alaska and deployed as far south as Bolivia. He received numerous decorations and commendations, including the 2004 US Air Force Clinical Excellence Award as the top physician in the US Air Force Medical Service.
Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and the Chief of the Division of Hospital Pediatrics at Kentucky Children’s Hospital with a passion for medical simulation, resuscitation training, graduate and post-graduate medical education. His excellent teaching resulted in receipt of the Warren E. Wheeler Teaching Award for 2007-2008 from University of Kentucky Pediatric Housestaff, the Clinical Teaching Award for the Pediatric Clerkship from the Classes of 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. He is also the recipient of four Abraham Flexner Master Educator Awards from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine.
Dr. Maul is actively involved in the Kentucky Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics as their Key Spokesperson for Hospital Medicine as well as nationally as a member of the AAP’s PREP Hospital Medicine Advisory Board, as well as the planning committee for Clinical Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
