About Diana Mager

Diana Mager, DNP, RN-BC graduated Cum Laude with a BSN degree from Fairfield University in 1988, and from Western Connecticut State University with a Master of Science in Nursing in 1994. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Case Western Reserve University in 2009. Dr. Mager has been certified in Home Health Nursing since 1995 by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, and she continues to work as a visiting nurse for over 20 years and more recently as a home care and community health consultant.
Dr. Mager is passionate about caring for older adults in their communities, with a focus on medication use and medication errors in a home care setting. She loves teaching and interacting with patients and students, and is an expert in the use of simulation to teach nursing. She has published articles in such journals as: Home Healthcare Nurse, Gerontology and Geriatrics Education, Clinical Simulation in Nursing, and MEDSURG Nursing, and has presented at national and international conferences on simulation, medication errors and cultural humility. Dr. Mager recently concluded work as the Principal Investigator in the ELDER (Expanded Learning and Dedication to Elders in the Region) Expansion Project. This $414,000 federally funded grant took place over three years (2009-12), and was designed to work with partnering institutions in the community to mentor nurses, nursing assistants and other professionals regarding communication and teamwork, cultural self-awareness, and palliative/end of life care for older adults.
