About Candice Benjes-Small

As Head of Research Services, I plan, direct, and oversee the operations and personnel dedicated to reference, instruction, and outreach. Prior to joining William & Mary in 2018, I was the Head of Information Literacy and Outreach at Radford University, where I worked since 2001. I have served as a part-time instructor for Syracuse University’s School of Information Science, Old Dominion University’s Library & Information Studies program, and William & Mary’s Film and Media Studies department.  I received a presidential citation from the Virginia Library Association, and have served as president of the Virginia chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). I was a member of the task force which created ACRL’s Roles and Strengths of Teaching Librarians document. In addition. I co-founded The Innovative Library Classroom conference, winner of the Beta Phi Mu conference support grant; have presented 24+ papers and published twelve articles, including a Top 20 LIRT selection, and authored or edited multiple books, including The New Instruction Librarian and Teaching About Fake News.
