Bruno Meyerhof Salama is an expert in Commercial and Financial Law, with experience in academia, private practice, and government. At UC Berkeley Law School, he teaches a variety of courses including Law and Economics, Monetary Law and Regulation, Law and Development, and Law Technology and Entrepreneurship, and Comparative Arbitration Law (scheduled for 2025). He also teaches courses in Commercial and Business Law at FGV Law School in São Paulo in the doctoral program. He is a founding partner of Salama Silva Filho Advogados, which focuses on legal advice and complex litigation. He actively serves as an arbitrator and sits as a dispute resolution panelist at the arbitration chambers of the Brazilian Stock Exchange and of the American Chamber of Commerce.
Bruno has served as a consultant for the World Bank and as a member of the National Financial System Appeals Council (CRSFN), which oversees Brazilian financial markets. He has also been a Visiting Professor at Columbia University Law School in New York and at Beijing Jiaotong University Law School in China. Earlier in his carrier he has practiced law in New York and in São Paulo with leading law firms, and he holds admissions to the New York State and Brazilian Bars.
His legal opinions have been used in United States District Courts, the London Court of International Arbitration, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris and São Paulo, the Arbitration Centre of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo, the São Paulo Chamber for Mediation and Arbitration, the Brazilian Center of Mediation and Arbitration in Rio de Janeiro. They have also been presented to the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice (Superior Tribunal de Justiça), the Appeal Court of the State of São Paulo (Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo), Federal Courts (Tribunais Regionais Federais), Civil Courts in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Antitrust Authority (CADE), the Administrative Council of Tax Appeals (CARF), and the Ministry of Economics and the Secretary of Labor in Brazil. He works pro bono for the Brazilian Association of Supported Employment (ANEA).
Bruno holds a J.S.D. and an LL.M from UC Berkeley Law School, an M.A. in Economics from the FGV School of Economics in São Paulo, and a LL.B. from the University of São Paulo.
