About Brian Van Hoozen

Dr. Van Hoozen joined the chemistry and physics department in 2018 as an Assistant Professor and is currently teaching general chemistry I and II. His research focuses on developing computational methods to simulate vibrations in model systems for DNA base pairs. He has published seven manuscripts in the Journal of Chemical Physics, Faraday Discussions, the Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation and the Journal of Visualized Experiments and has acted as a referee for the Journal of Molecular Simulation. His teaching philosophy emphasizes inquiry-based learning and peer instruction.
