Nathan Lewis is an Assistant Professor of Art at Sacred Heart University. He
received his MFA in painting from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine
Arts, Boston. He received his BFA in drawing and painting from Lyme Academy College of
Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He also studied at the Florence Academy of Art in
Italy and independently in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Professor Lewis’ work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. His work is in
private collections in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California, Russia, and
India. Recent exhibitions include "The Blessed Isles-Paintings of Nathan Lewis"
at Jack the Pelican Presents in New York, “Full Circle” at the Aldrich Contemporary Art
Museum, "the 19th Drawing Show," at the Mills Gallery in Boston, and
"Speak to Me: the Connecticut Biennial" at the Mattatuck Museum of Art. He has
consistently participated in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and universities
throughout the Northeast. His paintings have been on the cover of numerous books and
journals, and his work was included in films shown at the Cannes and Sundance Film
festivals. Nathan’s work has been published and reviewed by the Boston Globe, the New
York Press, International Artist, New Haven Magazine, the New Haven Advocate, the New
Haven Register, Big Red and Shiny, the Hartford Courant, the Republican American, and the
New York Times.
