About Ziortza Gandarias Beldarrain

Dr. Ziortza Gandarias Beldarrain started at Boise State University as a lecturer in 2018 and is currently an assistant professor with the Department of World Languages. She received a Ph.D. in Basque Studies with an emphasis in English Literature from the University of Nevada, Reno as well as a Ph.D. in Basque Linguistics and Philology and an M.A. in Basque Philology and Applied Linguistics both from the University of the Basque Country. Dr. Gandarias Beldarrain’s previous professional experience includes collaborating with the Basque Museum in Boise, Idaho in revising translations for its Inner Strength exhibit and organizing the project “Euskaraldia” at Boise State Univeristy in which she promoted activities on campus to create an awareness about the situation of minoritized languages, but also create a bridge to engage students with the Basque language and culture.
