About Xiaoyuan Han

Born in Nanjing, China, I completed my B.S. in Basic Pharmacy and M.S. in Pharmacology from China Pharmaceutical University. Then I earned my PhD degree from University of the Pacific, Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2014. After five-year postdoc training at Stanford University, I joined the Pacific family in 2019.

My passion for teaching and mentoring students is to prepare students succeed in their future life. To prepare them to be health care providers, I integrate medicine applications with basic biochemistry knowledge and apply the active learning method of case-based discussion in my class. My lab also provides research opportunities for students to understand evidence-based dentistry and to prepare them as future educators.

My research interest is to apply ‘Omics’ technologies to identify new diagnostic biomarkers and mechanisms in dental diseases. Ongoing studies focus on two clinical applications: 1) spatial immune characteristics in the classification of oral squamous cell carcinoma; 2) oral dysbiosis and host-immune dysfunction in pregnant women with periodontitis.
