About W. Matthew Collins

W. Matthew Collins, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at NSU's College of Psychology. He is a cognitive psychologist, member of the Psychonomic Society, and co-chair of TEDxNSU. He is an ad hoc reviewer for a number of journals and currently serves as the Director of the Undergraduate Psychology major at NSU. Dr. Collins’ research interests lie in three related areas. His primary area of research is focused on understanding how language is represented in the mind. His secondary area of research examines the relationship between language development and memory, specifically, whether memory for events can depend on having the language to describe those events. Finally, in collaboration with Dr. Leanne Boucher, he examines how body position and body activity impact various cognitive processes such as attention and memory.
