About Susan Raines

Dr. Raines is a Professor at Kennesaw State University and Editor-in-Chief of Conflict Resolution Quarterly. She recently wrote Conflict Management for Managers: Resolving Workplace, Client and Policy Disputes, 2nd Edition by Rowman & Littlefield (2020), Conflict Management for Managers published by Jossey-Bass (2013) and Expert Mediators (with Jean Poitras), published by Rowman & Littlefield (2012). In addition to her teaching and research she has mediated more than 10,000 civil and domestic disputes, she is a civil and domestic mediation trainer, she has designed and evaluated Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) programs for U.S. state and federal agencies, regularly facilitates public meetings, and leads negotiated rulemaking processes. Her research includes investigations into the usefulness of various mediation techniques; best practices for mediation training; and the use of facilitated dialogues for public decision making. She was the 2006 President of the Georgia chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) Dr. Raines offers mediation, facilitation, training, program design and evaluation services through her consulting company, Conflict Management Consulting.
