About Steven Gelber

Steven Gelber taught in the history department at SCU from 1969 to 2009 where he was twice elected chair. He specialized in cultural/economic history. His published works explore the interaction between market economics (capitalism) and cultural values in African-American employment, New Deal art, new religion, leisure (amateur baseball, hobbies), and automobile retail sales. He currently lives in Sonoma County.
