Assistant Professor
Sonia De La Cruz is an Assistant Professor in Communication and a faculty associate at the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies. Her scholarship broadly focuses on media activism, international and development communication, alternative and community-driven media and collaborative media practices. Her research primarily centers on US Latinx and Latin American communities, including indigenous peoples, but it has also focused on the experiences of other marginalized communities such as immigrants and refugees. De La Cruz is also a documentary filmmaker who has produced social-cultural and ethnographic documentaries where she addresses various human rights and social justice issues and has produced digital video projects for non-profits and international NGO’s.
