About Sheng Lu

Research areas include global softgoods industry (textile, apparel and related retailing), international trade and trade policy as well as governance of global apparel value chain. Recent research focus:
•Sectoral impact of the Transpacific Partnership(TPP), Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership(T-TIP) and U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS) by using the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling;
•Restructuring of the U.S. textile and apparel industry under the framework of the global apparel value chain (GVC), particularly the structural shift in employment, production, consumption and trade patterns;
•Economic and business implication of new generation technologies on the global softgoods industry, such as the global apparel supply chain in the 3D printing era;
•The role of the textile and apparel industry in promoting economic growth, human development and poverty reduction in developing countries and related trade policy issues such as the GSP system, the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and rules of origin (RoO).
