Shawne Manies obtained her undergraduate degree and master’s degree in nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis. Before starting her academic career full-time, she worked as a medical-surgical staff nurse, then as a house supervisor for SSM Health in St. Louis while concurrently teaching part-time for Maryville University. In Shawne’s current position at UMSL she serves as the Director of the BSN Accelerated Nursing Program and the undergraduate clinical coordinator while continuing to teach in the undergraduate BSN programs. Shawne is currently working towards her PhD in nursing with research interests in the success of EFL (English as Foreign Language) student nurses.
