About Sean N. Gordon

My core research interests are in 1) the conceptualization, measurement, and monitoring of environmental sustainability; 2) the integration of scientific knowledge into decision making (the “science-policy interface”); and 3) the design of knowledge management systems for supporting interdisciplinary and inter-organizational collaboration. Most of my current work involves developing and analyzing landscape indicators for federal land management planning. I also participated in the Urban Long-term Research Area project, where I studied how water pollution monitoring information is used in urban decision making. I have taught courses on urban ecology, issues in natural resources, forest policy, and environmental sustainability. My academic background includes a Ph.D. from the Oregon State College of Forestry, as well as a Master of Environmental Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Computer Science from Yale University.
