About Sarah E. Thompson

As a master's student and instructor of First-Year English at Marquette University, I am excited to be in a position to pursue my love of both studying and teaching English. My research interests include late eighteenth and early nineteenth-century literature, particularly Gothic, sentimental, and transatlantic texts, as well as female-authored novels of courtship. I also have become increasingly invested in digital archival research.
As an instructor of First-Year English, I am committed to seeking out scholarship on how to create a classroom that encourages students to engage with the content and concepts of our course, to reflect on the value of rhetoric and composition in their own lives, and to learn critical thinking skills that will serve them well no matter what their future holds.
The texts below represent some of my work as a master's student at Marquette University.
