About Sarah E. Llewellyn

Dr. Sarah Llewellyn joined the Boise State School of Nursing faculty team in 2020 after a stint as an assistant professor of nursing in the 49th state, Alaska. She earned her PhD in Nursing Research Science from the University of Washington, her Masters of Nursing in Education and Leadership from the University of Washington Bothell, and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University. Having been licensed as a registered nurse since 2001, Dr. Llewellyn has worked as an RN across the care continuum from acute dialysis and in-patient care to outpatient transplant coordination to home dialysis therapies. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal, teaching nurse midwifery students at Center for International Career Development in the western region of the country.

Dr. Llewellyn was a NIH funded predoctoral fellow in Aging and Informatics and a Jonas Nurse Leader scholar. She now serves as chair of the Jonas Philanthropies Nurse Scholar Alumni Council. She also participates as a member in various nursing organizations. Dr. Llewellyn serves as a reviewer for Nursing Open journal and various nursing conferences.

Passion and joy for the nursing profession are what Dr. Llewellyn hopes to instill in her undergraduate students. She has taught multiple didactic, lab, and clinical courses in pre-licensure programs. She has also chaired and been a member of various DNP committees. Dr. Llewellyn supports the Black Lives Matter movement as well as LGBTQI rights. She is a work in progress to being a true ally to those who are oppressed under systemic racist and heteronormative structures.
