About Sam Schelfhout

Sam Schelfhout is Instructor of Management and Sports Management at Sacred Heart University. Prior to SHU, Sam worked with the Texas Longhorns athletics media relations department.
His research interests focus on the evolution of esports and video games and their increasing inclusivity with traditional sports in interdisciplinary sport studies, the history of sport diplomacy, and sport and its role in United States diplomacy. His works have been published in the International Journal of the History of Sport and Games & Culture.

Sam is a member of the North American Society for Sport History and the International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport. He is also a peer- reviewer for European Journal for Sport and Society and The Social Science Journal.
