About Roger W. Purdy

Roger Purdy’s research focuses on wartime Japan’s news media. He has published several articles on Japanese newsreels and the Dōmei News Agency. His courses cover premodern and modern East Asia with surveys on China and Japan. He also teaches courses on Japanese popular culture and frequently leads Japanese popular culture study tours. He is the former East Asian Studies Coordinator and his courses on East Asia can also count toward an East Asian Studies major and minor. He is currently a visiting scholar at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan.
