Abstract
The world in which we live and work is becoming increasingly virtual, but few discussions in the field of Human Resource Development (HRD) describe the broad impact of technology on our practice. Virtual HRD (vHRD) is a new area of inquiry that may bring significant change to the field. The concept of vHRD and implications for the field are the focus of a proposed themed issue in Advances in Developing Human Resources. The purpose of this Food ‘n’ Thought session is for the editors of this proposed issue to discuss the development of Virtual HRD over the last year and pose the question of whether it represents a paradigm shift that would alter the research and practice agenda for HRD.
