About Robert P. Penno

Robert Penno is a Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He received a B.S.M.E degree from Rose Polytechnic Institute in 1971, the M.S.E.E from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1984 and the Ph. D. from the University of Dayton in 1987. He has served as chair of the local chapters of the IEEE Societies of Antennas and Propagation and the Microwave Theory and Techniques.  He is a life senior member of the IEEE. Dr. Penno has provided research support to the Sensors division, Air Force Research Laboratory, WPAFB, OH. since 1996.  His work has been primarily in the application of multi-mode antennas, such as the spiral antenna, for use in systems that determine angle of arrival of an unknown electromagnetic source, but has also included work with leaky wave antennas and planar arrays.
