About Robert Agnello

Robert N. Agnello, DO, FACOFP is assistant professor of family medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine at CUSOM. He has been adjunct faculty since the inception of CUSOM in 2013 assisting the OMM department.

Dr. Agnello is board-certified in family medicine since 2001 via Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ and added a CAQ in pain medicine in 2017. He has worked at the Womack Army Medical Center in family medicine since 2010 and interdisciplinary pain medicine since 2014.

Clinical interest is in pain management via integrative osteopathic medicine. The focus is to develop osteopathic plans of medical care through using a combination of integrative medicine strategy. Research interest includes complementary care modalities and the impact techniques such as osteopathic manipulation, auricular acupuncture and functional medicine including the use of the endocannabinoid system have on pain.

Dr. Agnello is a graduate of the NYIT-COM (formerly NYCOM) in 2000. Dr. Agnello completed an undergraduate fellowship in osteopathic manipulation prior to graduation. Dr. Agnello has a focus in pain management and has pursued both medical acupuncture training with the HELMS institute in 2015 along with initial functional medicine training through IFM in 2020.

Professional organization participation includes ACOFP, American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO), North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians (NCAFP) and the NCS-ACOFP. He served as President of the NCS-ACOFP in 2023 and 2013. He also is a former representative on the Education Committee for the AAO (2017-2023). He currently serves on the Council of OMED for the AAO and CME Advisory Committee for the ACOFP. In addition, he serves as a member of the Member Satisfaction and Practice Environment Committee (MSPEC) of the NCAFP. He was recently elected in 2023 to the Board of Governors of the AAO. He also is the clinical chair of family medicine for the NBOME (2024-2026).
