About Rhiannon M. Cates

Rhiannon M. Cates works in Special Collections and University Archives and teaches in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. She co-facilitates programming inside Oregon state correctional facilities and is a co-founding editor of Amplify: A Journal of Writing-as-Activism. Her work can be found in Radical Teacher, Humanities, Teaching Literature and Writing in Prisons (2023), Higher Education Accessibility Behind and Beyond Prison Walls (2020) and other venues. Her research involves feminist pedagogies, community-based learning, abolition, queer historiography, and popular culture.
