About Rhiannon Cates

Rhiannon M. Cates works as a library technician in Special Collections & University Archives at Portland State University, providing stewardship to an array of dynamic community-based archival collections. She has a B.A. in women’s studies and sexuality, gender, and queer studies from PSU, where her practicum and postbaccalaureate research has centered on the co-creation of knowledge and narrative with individuals impacted by the justice system. She has published scholarly work involving collaborative pedagogies, learning and writing in carceral settings, feminist praxis in librarianship, and paradigms and potentiality of incarceration-related archival records. She is a participant and volunteer with educational and leadership programs conducted inside Oregon state correctional facilities.
