About Rebekah J. Byrd

Rebekah Byrd, PhD, LPC(TN), LCMHC(NC), NCC, ACS, RPT-S is Coordinator of Clinical Experiences and Associate Professor in the online Education Clinical Mental Health Program at Sacred Heart University. Dr. Byrd has almost 20 years experience in the mental health field and has been a counselor educator for almost 10 years. Dr. Byrd is a professional school counselor, clinical supervisor and registered play therapist. Prior to SHU, Dr. Byrd was program coordinator and associate professor in the department of Counseling and Human Services at East Tennessee State University. She has also worked as a counselor in private practice, public and elementary/middle school settings. Dr. Byrd's research interests are Alderian theory, children and adolescent, school counseling, play therapy, social justice/multicultural concerns and women's wellness.
