About Ololade Afolabi

Ololade Afolabi, Ph.D. is a Lecturer in the Communication and Media Studies Department at Sacred Heart University. Dr. Afolabi is a former Fulbright Scholar whose research inspects issues pertaining to media flow and contraflow, online communities and interpersonal networking, technology and social change, and political economy of internet activism and explores the role that media platforms play in shaping the identities of women.

Dr; Afolabi is a recipient of the Adam Smith Research Fellowship and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Digital Culture Research Award. She also reviews for journals in the field of African studies and media and communication.

She received a M.A. from University of Ibadan, a M.S. from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
