About Nancy Olson

Nancy Olson is a part time faculty member and program coordinator at the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University. She teaches classes for the Sport and Recreation Management Department as well as places students in internships. She serves as the University's NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative and is a member of the University's Athletic Advisory Council and Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.

Nancy Olson spent nearly fourteen seasons with the Florida Marlins where she served as the Executive Director of the Florida Marlins Community Foundation from 1992-2010. She also served as the Marlins Director of Community Affairs in 1998-1999 after beginning her career with the Marlins in December of 1996 as Manager of Community Affairs.

Prior to joining the Marlins, Olson was Assistant Operations Manager of Windjammer Barefoot Cruises from 1985-1996. She was the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for Florida International University from 1979-1985 and was a teacher, coach and Athletic Director with the Broward County School System from 1970-1979. Olson was the second woman in the state to serve as High School Athletic Director.

Olson earned her Bachelor's in Health and Physical Education from Bowling Green State University, a Master's in Health and Physical Education from the University of Miami and a Master's in Sports Administration from St. Thomas University. She also has a Certificate in Corporate Community Relations from Boston College.

Olson volunteers throughout the year for various local nonprofit organizations. She produces a newsletter for NSU's Sport and Recreation Management Program.

A native of Sidney, OH, Olson was inducted into the Sidney City Schools Hall of Honor in April of 2002. She was named Co-Mentor of the Year for the Broward County Schools in 2005 and is Mentor of the Year for Women of Tomorrow, 2005-2006. She is a member of the 2005 Class of the First Ladies of Broward County and received the 2006 American Business Women's Association Non-profit Leader of the Year Award. In 2008 she was recognized by the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce at their 2008 Women in Business Empowerment Luncheon. Olson was honored as one of the 100 Outstanding Women of Broward in 2009. She was name Adjunct Faculty of the Year at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business in 2013. In 2015 she received the first Faculty Appreciation Award from the NSU Student Athlete Advisory Council and represented the Sunshine State Conference as their nominee for the National Faculty Appreciation Award. She was one of 4 finalists out of more than 300 NCAA Division II schools.

Nancy enjoys working out and is certified to teach water fitness by the United States Water Fitness Association.
