About Miguel Reina Ortiz

Starting at Boise State University in 2022, Dr. Miguel Reina Oritz is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Public and Population Health. He earned his Doctorate in Public Health from the University of South Florida with a concentration in Global Communicable Disease, as well as a M.P.H from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an M.S. in Microbiology from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and an M.D. from the Universidad Central del Ecuador’s School of Medicine. Dr. Reina Ortiz’s research focuses on infectious disease prevention and control, post-disaster health outcomes, and global health diplomacy. He is interested in the dynamic relationship between infectious agents, their hosts, and the environment in which these interactions occur.  His research is informed by the global nature of public health issues, and as a result is interested in the global dialogue on disease prevention, including international binding and non-binding instruments and their negotiation and application.
