Abstract

Connecting people with information is at the heart of information professionals’ work. This essential task is divided into many discrete tasks completed by information professionals, including organizing information for efficient access through database design, preserving access to information through digital curation, and managing information centers through effective and visionary leadership, all of which are covered in other chapters of this book. This chapter addresses the actual point of contact between the information professional and the user. It focuses on how information professionals directly assist users in formulating their information needs and finding relevant and accurate information.
