About Michael Malloy

Michael P. Malloy has been a law professor for almost 40 years. An internationally recognized expert on bank regulation and on economic sanctions, he received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania and his PhD from Georgetown University. He is a frequent consultant to state, federal, and foreign governments, and international bodies. Dr. Malloy is a U.S. representative to the Real Estate Market Advisory Group, which serves the Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, based in Geneva. He is also Director of the Business, Economics and Law Division of the Athens Institute for Education and Research, among other activities.

SEC enforcer, bank regulator, economic sanctions architect, Dr. Malloy has authored or edited over 220 books and book-length supplements in such fields as banking and securities regulation, contracts, economic sanctions, international banking, philosophy, and public international law. Among other works, he is the author of Banking Law and Regulation (3 vols., 2d ed., & 2021 Supps.); Banking and Financial Institutions Law in a Nutshell (9th ed., West Academic, 2019, with William A. Lovett); International Banking (4th ed., Carolina Academic Press, 2019); Contemporary Payment Systems (West Academic, 2016); Contracts in a Nutshell (8th ed., West Academic, 2016, with Rohwer and Skrocki) Contracts Simulations (West Academic, 2015, with Deborah R. Gerhardt); and, Economic Sanctions Anthology (2 vols., Edward Elgar Publishing, Ltd., 2015). In January 2013, his three-volume treatise Banking Law and Regulation was honored on its twenty-fifth anniversary by the Society of Socio-Economists during the annual meeting of the Association of American Law Schools.
