About Melissa M. Bianchi

Melissa Bianchi, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts in the Halmos College of Arts and Sciences. She teaches graduate courses in the M.A. in Composition, Rhetoric, and Digital Media program as well as undergraduate courses in game studies and writing.

Dr. Bianchi’s research interests bridge composition and rhetoric, media studies, game studies, and ecocriticism. Specifically, her scholarship participates in ecomedia studies about how video games complicate notions of environmental responsibility, ecological agency, and the non- and posthuman. She has presented her ideas on these and related topics at national and international conferences, as well as in refereed journals, such as Ecozon@: European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment (2017); Green Letters: Studies in Ecocriticism (2014); and others. Her scholarship also appears in edited collections, including Ecogames (2024), EcoComix (2020), Mediating Nature (2019), and more.
