About Mel Coleman

Mel D. Coleman is an Associate Program Professor and Program Coordinator for the Department of Educational Leadership and School Administration at the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education at Nova Southeastern University. He previously served as Director of Academic and Faculty Support and program professor of Educational Leadership at Abraham S. Fischler School of Education, Nova Southeastern University. He also served as a site administrator at the Nova Southeastern University Palm Beach location. He has served as deputy superintendent at Palm Beach School District in Palm Beach County, Florida. He served as executive director of accountability in the Austin Independent School District in Austin, Texas; as deputy superintendent in Columbus, Ohio; and Superintendent for eight years in Mansfield, Ohio. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from The Ohio State University, a Master of Science degree from Ohio University, and a Doctor of Education degree from Teachers College of Columbia University. Coleman has been a teacher, counselor, principal and curriculum director in the public schools. He has also been an adjunct professor of curriculum and instruction at Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio. He is currently teaching instructional and educational leadership, coordinating internships, and working with the Graduate Teacher Education and the doctoral programs at Abraham S. Fischler College of Education.
