Dr. Aysa-Lastra is an assistant professor of sociology at Winthrop. She received her doctorate in demography from University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests focus on international migration, labor stratification, social vulnerability and immigrant integration. Her recent work focuses on Latino immigrant populations in the United States and Spain. Aysa-Lastra has published in refereed journals such as Rural Sociology, Journal of Refugee Studies, Journal of Family Violence, International Journal of Population Research and Bulletin of Latin American Research, among others. She has also published several book chapters and has edited two books.
